Snowmobile

Set off on a snowmobile and cross the snowy landscapes of the Pays des Écrins.

Enjoy the wide open spaces

Snowmobile outings can be enjoyed in the mountains during the winter period. The Pays des Écrins is no exception.

Snowmobile in a few words

You will usually set off for your outing as the ski slopes are closing. Your vehicle awaits you. The motorised vehicle has ski blades at the front and tracks to the rear. You will head off on the snowmobile into the wild open spaces, where often you will see no one at all. It will make you feel special, as if you were alone in the world.

It is not very difficult to drive a snowmobile, there is an accelerator as on a motorbike and brakes on the handle bars, like on a bicycle. You will feel the speed and will be moving between 30 km/h and 60 km/h. We advise that you dress up warmly for this activity. You will drive in the company of a monitor. They will give you advice during the safety briefing. You’ll need to avoid any dips which might through you off balance.

While many are attracted to driving and piloting a snowmobile, the activity as it is presented in ski resorts is more for a leisurely ride. You will have a total change of scene due to the nocturnal nature of the outing. Once the engine is switched off, silence that takes pride of place.

To drive a snowmobile, you must be over 18, but a driver’s licence is not necessary to revel in the joys of driving on snow.
