The Eychauda Valley

The Eychauda Valley

This is a magnificent valley at the edge of the Écrins National Park. In winter, this valley, at an altitude of 1,700 m, can be reached by following the Eychauda road, on foot, snowshoes or sledges. It is very sunny in the afternoon.

At one time, this hamlet was inhabited in the summer. Now, however, most of the lovely stone chalets are holiday homes.

The former dairy has resumed service as a refreshment bar and is open in summer.

You can admire a lovely little chapel in honour of Saint Jean.

The hamlet is the ideal location for a picnic after snowshoeing up. It is perfectly calm, and the scenery is magnificent.

ACCESS

From Vallouise, go as far as Pelvoux Le Sarret and follow the signs to l’Eychauda. Continue until you reach the limit where the road is no longer cleared. Park your car here and continue on foot or snowshoes.
