It takes an hour to reach on foot in an exceptional environment. We invite you to get away from it all at the foot of the Écrins National Park, in mid-winter.
Warning: an avalanche is always possible down this part of the road. Check with the Tourist Information Offices across the area beforehand or enlist the help of a mountain guide.
START OF THE OUTING
It is at the end of the Pelvoux road, at the start of the Via Ferrata car park that we reach the footpath leading to Ailefroide, on the right-hand side of the river.
An hour’s climb through magnificent scenery and total calm leads to the foot of the boulders, which are so popular in summer.
AILEFROIDE AND MR BUISSON’S REFRESHMENT BAR
We arrive at an exceptional site and make our way to Mr Buisson’s refreshment bar: the only establishment that is open in Ailefroide during the winter.
Every morning, Mr Buisson snow treks to Ailefroide to open the refreshment bar.
We suggest you take time to comfort him there and perhaps watch the chamois from the bar. Don’t forget your binoculars!
